I wrote a novel. The first line paragraph indents seem too large compared to other similar novels.

I would like to make them smaller, like .25 inches, not the current .5 inch. I cannot figure out a way to do that in Bookwright. Customer support has not been able to help.  I have imported with .5, .25  and with no indents and they all end up looking the same (after tabbing the indent for the latter). Please help.

I also dislike the .5 indent.  It makes the book look less than professional.

Please provide a solution.

Thank you.

It's annoying. Support said the only thing to do is manually change the indent - but that's no good, I'm not going to manually change every paragraph and line of dialogue in my novel! Blurb need to rectify this, as I am looking elsewhere now.

I don't think so. I hope they would get back to me if they fix that, as I exchanged messages with support people about it, and haven't proceeded with my book order.

Couldn't agree more.  I've tried everything over the last two days to deal with this-- multiple imports with different indents, etc.  Is Blurb kidding?  A HALF-INCH indent?  I can't find a single novel on my shelf that has formatting like this-- for good reason: it looks amateur.

What is going on here?  This is an easy fix (I work in software), but until it's done, I can't use this program.

So glad I just read this and didn't waste any more time. I'm not about to reformat a 105K word novel.

Anyone found anything better to use?

I did try writing to the help desk about this.  I got a form letter email back explaiing the "safe areas" on the page.  Seriously?  When did blurb start outsourcing to Microsoft in Bangalore?

I then tried again.  No response yet.  Blurb = Fail.

I went to Amazon's CreateSpace.  They provide an easy to use Word template that turned out great.  Blurb is wonderful for picture books, but for a book that is all text, I recommend CreateSpace.
