What's the maximum file size for upload when printing?

Hi, I'm working through a travel blog from last year - manually converting into a BookWright book for printing (coffee table book) and was wondering if there is a file size limit when uploading? I'm currently about 1/2 way through and the file is 3.8Gb (about 200 pages). I'm aware that there is a page limit, and I'm wondering if I should start thinking about splitting the book into 2 volumes - but wondering if file size comes into play also?

Thanks - Cam

Hello,

Did you find an answer to that question ? My project would be around 4GB too.

Thanks - Nicolas

Hi Nicholas - No I never found out ... we are still working through our project, but have made the decision to split into 2 books based on the fact that we will have too many pages. Hopefully, your comment will re-envigorate the discussion!

Regards,

Cam

I have run into a similar issue - I have spent a LONG time compiling a coffee table travel photo book - and then tried to upload it.

The upload was refused because it was greater than the surprisingly small 2GB limit (my book is approaching 4GB). The automated suggestion was to either reduce the number of images (no) or reduce the image file sizes (completely impractical). There was no indication during the compilation process that my project was going to be too big to upload.

It would seem that Blurb may have reached the limit of its usefulness from my point of view.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, Charlie

May have found the answer - I think the upload limit of 2GB applies to eBook production. My "hard copy" upload is in progress at the moment - fingers crossed!

Hi Charlie - I'm approaching the end of my second book design, which is part 2 (due to number of pages being approx 400) of a 6 month blog that we wrote 2 years ago. I still haven't printed part 1 yet, but plan to send to print in the next couple of weeks. In the back of my mind I've still had this concern that the 2 files would each be too big to upload - and my concerns were heightened when I saw your first post! 2 GB would be a struggle for me - but if necessary I could potentially split into 4 books instead of 2 ... But your second post looks a bit more promising - would be interested to hear how you went. Hope you had some success! Cheers Cam

Hi everyone,

i finally splited my project in 2 for reading coherence.

each book was about 2GB on my computer but only 400~500MB once compiled and uploaded.

The content is 80% high def photos on a 33x28 book size, around 100pages per book.

Looks like the uploading limit is 2GB, still to verify.

my 2 cents, best wishes for your project ;-)

Nicolas

Hi Cam - the final size of "Blurb Book Project" file on my hard drive was 4.2GB. During the rendering process (automatically happens when you go to upload) the file size was reduced significantly (can't remember exactly what size) - and the upload went without a hitch.

I have ordered my hard copy book - and so far have had no messages to indicate any problem. I will post again when it arrives.

It is disappointing that Blurb themselves do not seem able / willing to provide this sort of information to their customers - I shall continue to investigate alternatives for future projects.

Cheers, Charlie
