How long did it take for your book to get on to Amazon?
Why is Amazon Showing Temporarily Out of Stock?
Seems strange as these books are print on demand. My book just showed up a couple of days ago (hard copy, eBook was done through KDP), and now it says temporarily out of stock. Any ideas why?

I want to say 2-3 weeks. I think it was "in stock" for a day or two!
That seems bizarre and really not good for business!! It doesn't make any sense at all that they would be "unavailable." I'm questioning my decision now to go with Blurb for self-publishing. My hard copy book isn't available through my Blurb bookstore (only the PDF, and I'm not entirely sure why!), so that's not yet a possibility for redirecting buyers. I'm trying to plan a pretty substantial book launch!!
I know. I actually started with the Amazon equivalent of Blurb but the prices were way out of line I have a 200 page color cookbook and was disappointed that the only way to be somewhat competitive (and barely) was via blurb and the economy color.
To answer the other part of your question I had the same problem (maybe). Did you publish to the global retail network? If so you have to upload again (ya, I know) and set it up just in the blurb store, but you can't list the book for less than it sells on Amazon. Also it will have a different ISBN. Sigh.
Frustrating! Thanks for the info about the Amazon version -- I was curious about if that would've been a better choice. It's unfortunate that it's so expensive to do POD and self-publishing. I suppose that's a trade-off for having ultimate control over your books.
Thanks for the tip about re-uploading the book to Blurb to sell directly. Yes, I published through the Global Retail Network and remember that I'll have to list for that full price.
Many thanks! best of luck with you cookbook!!
Hello again! I was communicating with a rep at Blurb via Facebook Messenger. This is what the person said about why there's been a delay in seeing my book on Amazon: "I see that you placed an order on the same day of submitted your book to distribution. Ingram cannot process distribution submissions while an order is open. However, your submission successfully went through yesterday. I hope this information can help you!"
I suggested that that information be communicated, since that's not mentioned at all in the process of submission. The rep was very nice and helpful, and also said they would forward my suggestions to their development team. That was yesterday.
As of this morning, there's a listing on Amazon for my book, but there's no photo of the book and it can't be purchased ("out of stock.") I'm assuming -- and this is a wild assumption -- that it's a sort of "placeholder" for the book while Amazon and Ingram's systems communicate and do whatever internet magic has to be done to have the book listed!
Very strange but at least it explains things, thanks so much for passing the info on and good luck with your book!
Thank you! You too!
did this get solved?
