I am sick to my stomach at this news. My business was built on the ability to slurp blogs into Booksmart. I've branched out and am able to stay in business with other types of books, but to pull this feature with NO warning puts me in a really tough spot with current clients who are expecting me to be able to continue to make their blog books. Why was this feature removed?
Blog to Book feature no longer available????
Booksmart has deleted the feature to slurp blogs to a book. Out of all the sites out there, Blurb is the BEST at making this process user friendly AND have the ability to edit the content if needed. I am very disappointed they have discontinued this feature. There is nothing else out there that compares. PLEASE VOTE for this feature to be brought back!

I agree! I was right in the middle of a 400 page book and pulled up the program Monday to not be able to slurp any more of what I was doing. I was SO UPSET that there was no forewarning or anything. I called the customer service people and they could not give me any better explanation. They just said the feature would no longer be available. I HATE that there was no warning or anything. (INSERT ANGRY, SAD FACE)
I totally agree! I use these books to document my family blog in a hard copy form so my family has a hard copy of all of our adventures. I am not looking forward to trying to find a replacement. This is really hard for me to take. I have loved the ease and convenience of working with my blog already uploaded to a specific program. Please reconsider this choice!
BEYOND SAD!! Bring this back, PLEASE! I use this for our family book EVERY single year. I have loved this company and don't want to switch! How was this decision made and decided? It is obviously used by many. To copy and paste my blog into blurb would be the most tedious process. I just made a blog book a month ago and the system worked great! Why take it away?
I agree! PLEASE bring this capability back! When I called customer service they told me that if enough people vote they will consider bringing it back. Like so many others, I use Blurb to create hardcover books of our family blog. I have been doing this for years - and I have a many more years to document! I have loved every part of Blurb - the process, the product, and the customer service, but am devastated that the blog to book option was removed! I create books in either 3 or 6 month increments and have literally dozens of posts and hundreds of photos in each book so it's really not feasible for me to manually copy/paste text and import individual photos. Please, please, please bring back the blog to book feature!
Everyone needs to vote as much as possible. I am so glad others are sharing and expressing their opinion. I have searched for hours trying to find another website that slurps blogs to books, and NOTHING compares to Blurb and it's editing features. There has GOT to be more of a reason to why they pulled the feature literally OVER NIGHT without any notice. We need this feature brought back! What more can we do???
It would also be a good idea to share this information on your Facebook page with a link to the Blurb Facebook page where Blurb has been getting Feedback. It's a quick and easy way to voice your opinion and share with others who want Blurb to bring blog books back: https://www.facebook.com/BlurbBooks/posts/10154004003883593
I, too, and so frustrated by this change, particularly the fact that it was made with no warning to customers. Here is the response I sent customer service.
"I am writing to express my disappointment with the recent and abrupt decision to no longer allow blogs to be "slurped" into BookSmart. I have been using this feature for many years and it has been a great blessing to our family as we have documented our lives by blog and eventually in hard copy over the last eight years. I am halfway through my 2015 book with thousands of pictures and almost 100 posts still to add. Doing this by hand, particularly the photos, would result in hours and hours of work. I recognize that the nuances and tech requirements of this feature are details I am not familiar with and must be complicated; however, you have provided a valuable feature found nowhere else. To have it no longer available and taken away with absolutely no forewarning is not in keeping with the customer service standards Blurb has excelled at in the past. At the very least, we should have received some notice, giving us time to wrap up those projects we are currently working on. I urge you to reconsider this decision, or perhaps allow us some time to prepare more fully.
I just found out that you discontinued the blog-to-book feature and am absolutely sick about it! I have done this for several years and absolutely cherish the books I've made. My blog is the way I organize my family's pictures. I can deal with any formatting issues as long as you can make a way to continue slurping the content from my blog. Seriously, even if the process is imperfect, at least it would help speed up the process for my book-making. I can't imagine ever being able to create the book by copying and pasting and finding and re-importing pictures. It would take WAY too long and would never get done! I know SO many people who have used this feature and will be devastated to see it go. I have always sworn by Blurb's quality and I would love to be a faithful customer, but disabling this feature really ruins things for me. PLEASE consider reintroducing it!
Please bring this feature back!!! Our family uses this to create fantastic books that our kids, family, and friends all look at over the years. There is nothing to compare to Blurb in the blog-to-book space; it would be a total shame to lose this feature!
Please bring this feature back. It is the easiest, most appealing way to make my blog into a book. My children love reading our family blog books.
Agree with this 100%! While I blog to share pictures with family and friends, there are now better mediums for doing this, so the entire reason I am now blogging is to turn each year into a family journal. I have created 7 with an 8th year ready for upload. I find my kids sitting on the couch, oftentimes with multiple sitting together, reading and talking about the different stories and pictures. It is a priceless memory.
Blub does it best - I am trying to find a replacement site (intorealpages, lulu, etc.) and just can't find one that I like as much as Blurb.
Please bring this feature back, if only for 1 blog platform. I will happily move my blog address if I can simply upload into the software (it's way easier than formatting an entire 200-page book).
We have a line of 20 family blog books on our shelf that are invaluable. I'm so sad that this feature has been removed. SO SAD! I can't even imagine how long it would take to manually import text and photos without the slurp feature. These books are my kids absolute favorite books to look through.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring the blog-to-book feature back. This has been a tremendous service in the past and I truly hope you will reconsider this change.
The lack of warning feels disrespectful, especially after reading comments that echo my own thoughts about this decision. Blogs are inherently in a state of continuous publication so it sounds like numerous people were in the middle of books that were hundreds upon hundreds of pages, like I was. I can't believe that customers that make such long books would not be worth trying to save, in a company's eyes. And really, even if it doesn't serve the bottom line to keep the feature indefinitely-- they couldn't offer a warning??
Voting! Please bring this back. I am a faithful user who counts on this service. The quality of the books combined with the ability to slurp the blogs is fabulous and I'm sad and frustrated this disappeared without warning.
I agree! I have made my family blog into a book for the past 10 years. I love them all being the same great quality! This is a sad change!
I am so very disappointed that Blurb no longer "slurps" blogs! We keep our family blog for the purpose of printing it out in a Blurb photo book every year. These books are our family treasures!! I have made many over the years. Please consider bringing this feature back, even if supporting only one blog platform. I'd gladly move my blog over for the ease of using Blurb!
I wish I would have known that this feature was going to be disabled. I have an incomplete book now :( Please bring it back!
I wish there had been a warning and I would have easily slurped over 4 years! I can't imagine having to do this all by hand now. I'm so disappointed. Sick to my stomach actually. Please bring this feature back. Please!
I, too, and so sad this has changed. The books from Blurb are wonderful, and the slurping feature was THE BEST. Please bring it back!
I agree! I just went to slurp my blog and couldn't do it! I'm gutted! This is horrible. This is how I make my books. I am so sad.
PLEASE PLEASE bring the slurping back.... Blurb makes the most beautiful books from my blog. I have eight books over several years. This year I just completed a book manually from my blog and it was a nightmare... the time - the months that I spent trying to manually download everything. Please consider bringing it back! Looks like there is a large loyal community that would love to see this come back!
Wow, terrible decision to remove the Blog to Book functionality. That was the only reason we used Blurb. Guess we won't be ordering any more books from Blurb.
please bring access back to blog.... I just love being able to down load from Blog to your website to make my books. I have 6 years I'm am trying to down load and since you took off my access I am more then frustrated with trying to get all my information transferred. Please please bring it back. Your company is the only book that I like all the different options.
This makes me sick...I love my blurb blog books. Please bring it back!
It has been almost a year since this feature was removed. I was really hoping that it would be returned. Blurb has put a lot people in some pretty serious predicaments. I have tried, and failed to copy and paste pictures from my blog to a new book. It just doens't work. I don't have the time to go through two years worth of pictures to try and find the exact picture from my blog to go into my book. Becuase I can't make books out of my blogs I haven't blogged anything for almost a year. My whole purpose of having a blog was to make family journals from it. There is no other on-line digital book making company (and there are many of them out there!) that offers this feature. This is a feature that set Blurb apart from the other companies. You were the only company that did this. You will (and have) lost a lot of business by removing this feature. I don't want you to consider bringing it back anymore...I want it brought back!
aw man. There goes a long-standing tradition. now what do I do?
