Failed to create a secure connection

I am having a hard time getting booksmart to upload my book to the site.  It keeps saying Failed to Create a secure connection.  I have done everything that they suggest. I don't have any type of firewall and I am connected to the internet.  Any suggestions?

Make sure you have the newest version of BookSmart. I fiddled around all afternoon, and finally got it to work.

Back up your book first, but it should be there without any trouble when you open the new version. If it asks if you want to replace an older version of BookSmart say yes. Go here for the newest version: http://www.blurb.com/booksmart-download

I've downloaded the latest version and tried uploading a book. It got halfway through and came up with a message that there was a problem. I had no option but to cancel and try ordering again. Upon trying to upload I get the all familiar message plus "Failed to upload cover (code 2s)". Does anyone have an idea what the issue is now? This is so frustrating.

Those having the code 2s problem must be SO frustrated.  Downloading the new version of the software did work for me however - and I am really grateful to those who posted on this thread about that as the solution.  I am equally disappointed with customer support.  I'm assuming the new version was to resolve issues they were having.  The right thing to do would be to acknowledge the issue to those who have logged a support request or on this thread.  Incidentally, my support requests have not been responded to yet.

Thankfully, updating to the latest version solved my issue. Customer service did reply to my issue, but their e-mail was sent to my spam folder so I didn't see it until I'd already solved it thanks to the people posting here.

Hi

I just got a response from the helpdesk.... WHY dont they inform their customers about this mandatory upgrade on their webpage ? or at least when you log in .. it would have save a lot of time for all of us.... ;-)))

I will try this evening and hope it works ... see details below

'm sorry to hear of the trouble uploading your BookSmart project. As of Jan 24, 2016 if you are not using BookSmart version 3.4.8.34820 or greater, you will no longer be able upload books using an older version of BookSmart. We apologize for the inconvenience, however this is a required security update to bring BookSmart up to date with latest security and privacy practices.

Follow these steps to download and install the latest of BookSmart 3.4.8

To update your BookSmart software, use the following steps:

  1. Visit http://www.blurb.com/booksmart
  2. Click “Download BookSmart”, which can be found at the top and bottom of the webpage.
  3. Click the blue button, “Download BookSmart for Mac” (or PC), confirming you are downloading the software meant for your operating system. This will begin the download process.
  4. Navigate to the downloaded file (this will vary based on your own browser settings) and open it.
  5. Follow the prompts to install BookSmart.

Once you have updated your BookSmart software, try uploading your book again. If you're still unable to upload please let me know.

Message was also sent to my spam folder so only received after I had the update via this thread.  Personally I feel that "I'm sorry to hear of the trouble uploading your BookSmart project" is quite different to "We are sorry that we have caused you this problem".  Problem is fixed for me but I'm still cross about the time wasted.

Blurb must of just fixed this in the last 12 hours.  My software was version 3.7x that I just downloaded yesterday on another computer. When I reinstalled 3.8 from the link above this morning, it started working.  A lot of time was wasted trying to get it to upload on 3 computers, but I am glad that it is working now.

I had a similar problem as this and noticed that they started to remove some features. Not sure if this is related but they basically removed the wordpress support so I am no longer able to import from my website (http://blavou.co) and create a book.

I cannot connect to upload my book. The problem is not with my wi-fi as  I am able to successfully use my laptop for all other activities. The problem occurs only when trying to use your site to publish my book. All procedures suggested to trouble-shoot the error have been followed. Wi-fi service technician has come to the house to make sure all is ok at the house. Please fix this problem. The book I'm trying to upload is a wedding gift.

Thank you very much.

I have purchased several books in the past, but this time I am unable to establish a secure connection with Blurb.  I turned off my firewall, and have tried numerous times to order my book, but still no connection.  Is Blurb overloaded or is their system down tonight?  The deadline to order for the sale is now only about half an hour away!  Please help.
