Yes, I think its a good idea. I would like this service also as I'm in the process of ancestry research and eventually would like to put this in book form for my family.
Using Blurb to publish MyCanvas books from Ancestry.com
Ancestry.com is stopping the MyCanvas publishing service on Sept 5, 2014 with no alternative. I hope that Blurb could do this publishing. Do other Blurb users also use Ancestry.com for genealogy research? If so, do you want to explore Blurb offering this publishing service?

I am planning on writing several books to document my genealogical research. This will include a lot of text along with photo's and family trees. Would really love some suggestions to make it of a professional quality.
As you may have found out==Ancestry sold the My Canvas to the local publisher in SLC. So the service is being continued in it current format and the new owner has said to be considering additional offerings. I have not seen anything new on My Canvas. My experience with My Canvas is generally very good--excellent book quality(paper, printing, binding) but the My Canvas tool does not have word processing capabilities and makes adding text very difficult in my mind (no spell checker for example). What I have done for several family history books is use My Canvas to get the family trees, family groups, and individual timelines downloaded to My Canvas. For text, I use Word and copy/paste into a Blurb book. I have also added some photos to the Blurb book. Ok--it results in 2 books but I have yet to find a better solution. Hope this helps.
