when do I select paper type and cover type with BookSmart?

It seems that I must upload my book before I select cover and paper.

how do you change the type paper before ordering?

previously, these options came up in the ordering process.

In placing an order today, I only had the option for standard paper.

Good question, Edpescatore. I've found exactly this happening to me today of all days - just before the UK deadline for a 35 per cent discount. I have always selected Lustre paper in the normal ordering process and suddenly the system changes and I was extremely lucky to suddenly notice in very unobtrusive print that the paper the book is to be printed on is Standard - which I never have and don't want. If I now have to choose paper type before uploading ( apparently you have to do this on Bookwright - I don't know if it now applies to Booksmart, which I've always used), I'll have to upload again and there won't be time to order before the midnight deadline as it's a long book - so it looks like I'll have to wait for the next discount promotion.

Further to my last comment under two hours ago I can tell you that I've just re-uploaded the book (made with Booksmart) and on opening the page for purchase (i.e. as if it were a new book) I was offered the normal choices for cover type, endpaper colour and, yes - paper type! Wow - what a relief, because I managed to select the specs I wanted and purchase the book just before the UK midnight promo discount deadline of 35% off!

My feeling is that you only have this one chance to select the specifications you want and can't change them later. Obviously I'd already uploaded the same book previously and must have either selected Standard paper in error, or selected nothing and Blurb made that assumption anyway when I next called the order up on screen for purchase - a selection or an assumption which couldn't be changed at that point.

Now all I need do is delete the first upload.

My advice is to re-upload the book, make your choices with the dots in the circles and check them carefully - then order and confirm. You may not get the chance to change any specification later. Then delete the first upload at your leisure.

Good Luck and thanks for your attention - hope this helps.
