As of September 4, 2019 our new Layflat Photo Books are made with Premium Lustre paper, offering a more luxurious heavyweight page and a touch of gloss to help vibrant colors pop.
You can upgrade an existing Layflat Photo Book (one uploaded and ordered before 9/4/19) to Premium Lustre paper by following the tool-specific instructions below. If you’re not sure which tool you used to create your original Layflat book, check this article.

InDesign
Start on the Specification Page to check what the spine measurements (width and height) of your book will be using the new Layflat paper. Compare the spine width and height of your existing book to the spine measurements on that page. If the measurements have changed, follow the instructions below to create a new file and reorder.
- Open the Blurb InDesign Plugin and select Create New Book.
- Enter the exact details of your previous Layflat book, including trim size and page count. Select Layflat Standard Paper from the paper type drop-down menu, and Hardcover, Imagewrap from the cover type drop-down menu.
- Instead of creating a new Pages Template, use the link button and link to your existing Layflat book’s InDesign Pages document.
- Open your existing Layflat book’s InDesign Cover document. Go back to your new Layflat book and create a NEW Cover Template by clicking Create Cover Template. Select ALL from your previous Cover Template and paste to the new Cover Template. The new cover will have a different spine width so carefully adjust all elements on the page to fit as desired.
- Upload your Layflat book and order.
