Create a table of contents and index in BookSmart

BookSmart doesn't have an automated Table of Contents or Index, but you can manually create those on your own. Follow these steps to insert a Table of Contents page or Index into your book. Once you've inserted the page, type the chapter names and page numbers to direct your readers to specific sections in your book.

  1. Select the page in your book after which you would like a Table of Contents or an Index page to appear.
  2. Select Insert > Table of Contents or Insert > Index.
  3. Select a layout from the Choose Page Layout menu on the top left-hand corner of BookSmart.
  4. Type in your chapter names or other reference information and page numbers.

It's best to create your Table of Contents and Index last, after you’ve finished organizing your book.
