In accordance with the tax laws governing members of the European Union, Blurb is required to charge Value Added Tax (VAT) on all orders printed and delivered to addresses within the EU.
The VAT rate is determined by legislation in the destination country. As a result, the VAT rate is subject to change as per the guidelines of each country's tax authority. The VAT rate is applied to the price of the books and any shipping and handling costs.
The pricing information displayed throughout the Blurb website and during checkout, will indicate whether VAT is included or not.
Blurb's default EU VAT rate for books is 6%. The Netherlands will be listed as the territory for which the collected VAT belongs when the default rate is applied. However, for some EU countries Blurb is required to collect a different VAT rate and that amount will be seen during check-out. The VAT rate is applied to the price of the books and shipping and handling costs for orders that will be delivered to any EU member state.
Different VAT rates may also apply for print books versus digital books. Digital books will be charged VAT based on the billing address. Print books will be charged VAT based on the shipping address.
Some orders shipped to addresses outside of the U.S. may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the package reaches the destination country. For EU addresses, trade books and Layflat books may be subject to import duties. Learn more about potential duties, taxes, and import fees.
