Not sure how to create a spine for your InDesign book, or what size the spine should be?
If you have a supported version of Adobe InDesign (currently CS6 or above, and all versions of InDesign CC) then you should download and install our free Blurb Book Creator plug-in for InDesign.
- The Blurb InDesign plug-in will allow you to create blank templates with the spine area displayed—you'll see exactly where the spine will be and can place your spine content accordingly.
- Do not modify the size or settings of the plug-in templates in any way. Doing so will likely lead to a failed preflight check. You should only add content such as text, images, backgrounds, etc.
If you do not have a supported version of InDesign, or are using a non-InDesign workflow, review our book specifications page for the correct spine dimensions for your book. Position your spine in the center of the cover.
